Alot of these agates are very expensive in the rough these days. I am continually amazed that the gem material available to me in the 1970's is pretty much gone now. Laguna and Agua Nueva agates can go for several hundred dollars a pound for the great stuff.

Fine agate is increasing rare and difficult to find. People mostly have no idea how how very many minerals which used to be abundant, are simply gone. I tell folks that diamonds may be the most plentiful gems on the planet these days. Good agate, especially Laguna and Agua Nueva is practically nonexistant to find. Good Crazy Lace is almost equally difficult to get these days as well. One may be able to find rough nodules, but not in the quality or quantity of even a few years ago. The cutter never knows what, on a leap of faith and certain abilities to predict what MAY be in the rough, they will actually find when they cut into it with the diamond saw. So, think not that agate is the hunmble gem it used to be. In some cases agate is nearly as rare as most other gems. Adn a good agate is a joy to behold, set and wear. I offer gem settin servies as well. I am primarlity a jeweler who learned through many years how to bring out the singlular properties of the finest gemstones. Lapidary is a difficult art and much expensive equipment is needed to transform rough rock into a treasure to wear.
