Enironmental statement. The halting hand in front of the fragile turquoise representing the earth. The forms of alternative emerging from the palm. I first learned of the danger to the environment in a civics class when I was 14 years old. It has remained a prime passion in my life. this piece was sold in the early 1970's
Materials: Sterling, high content copper gold, Australian turquoise
Technique: Handcarved, lost wax cast elements.

A statement in precious metals on the Vietnam war.
Materials:sterling, glass fired enamel, coral eye.
Technique: lost wax cast, enameling, repousse. Wings were made by incising lines in set up investment, then pouring wax into the lines, removing it and casting it.

Materials:Ivory, black coral, carved pine wood, brass, sterling.
Technique:Playful. Metals of brass and sterling joined and then acid-etched to achieve the texture; lost wax cast elements; handmade chain and clasp.

This piece has been in several competitions, including the Niche awards finals. This is connected exclusively with rivets. The crystal is Dioptase, which is rare, rare in this quality. It has an invented by me handmade clasp and central piece is the Mokume`.

The original of the design. This is held together exclusively with rivets. The swirl patterns are Mokume`, an ancient Japanese technique of layered metals. Has an original invention clasp mechanism.
Materials:14K Rio Grande gold, sterling, enamel, diamond, Gem Chinese turquoise cut by myself.
Technique:Handcarved, lost wax cast; riveted; Original patented Laurie Stetzler designed springloaded heavy brooch multiple barb pin back.

Lapis, Sterling forged multipiece neckpiece. Tourmaline crystal is on a hidden hinge so it swings. Mokume accents.

Raised, hollow riveted shell bracelet, has dapped hollow inside for the wrist bone to rest comfortably on the wrist. Shells are pieces from the naturally colored "Pectin Noblis" shell from Australian waters. Gold, sterling. Amazing piece.

Orange natural color inset"Pectin Noblis" shell. Tiny rivets hold the shells to the original technique "married metals" brooch. I tried for a "seaweed" look in metals here, but not too hard!

Repousee to fit "Pectin Noblis" shell part. Amazing natural color from Australian waters. This brooch is hollow. Sold in a New York City show in the 1980's. I loved these shells. No one was quite sure how I riveted them without breaking them! Gold.

Sugilite, Mokume sterling brooch. Riveted piece raised to create dimension. other parts bezeled in.


This work was created at a time when I felt the need to express the irony, the beauty, and the things which are not always what they seem. The masks are made in Sterling and Bronze or Gold in a process called "married metals". This process, to my knowledge, has never been used in Lost Wax cast pieces.

Pin/Pendant. This mask is not as sanguine as the others. It is a mask within a mask. It is descriptive of the times when what you see is not what you believe you’re seeing.
Materials: Electrum and 18k Rio Grande gold inlay, coral, shell teeth.
Technique: Handcarved, lost wax cast; handmade hinge.

Our Lady of the Buried Heart:
This piece is fraught with symbolism, most of which is for your interpretation. I will say one only shows one’s heart when they feel it’s safe; to provide this safety I have given "Our Lady" a mechanical clasp of my own design.

Technique: lost wax cast, enameling, riveted. Original Laurie Stetzler designed eccentric cam chest catch.

This is the fun stuff, before I got Dystonia. My trademark stamping. All elements are hand-sawed out of different metals: copper, brass, nickel and gold, with the form being sterling silver. All the beads are attached by small rivets.

Fun at Grandma's


Pretend you’re a child at Grandma’s; wonderful things all around. The chair backs are tufted with gold rivets. Set consists of a bracelet and matching earrings.

Just plain fun. How many times have you seen this if you have cats? This set was featured in "Southwestern Magazine" in 1988. Sterling, gold, brass, copper,turquoise heishi, white glass beads.
Technique:Handbuilt from stock. All images involved were cut by saw and soldered in place. Beads riveted into piece. Bolo card dyed and braided by Laurie Stetzler.
